21/10/2011 AICV submission - National Cultural Policy 2011

The AICV welcomes the development of the National Cultural Policy. The development of the Policy has served to initiate numerous conversations across Australia about our arts and culture, reflecting where we have come from, where we are now and engaging our imaginations in Australia’s possible futures. The development of the National Cultural Policy is an opportunity to develop an alternate vision for our future as we struggle with the onset of global warming and expediential population growth, technological change, a growing divide between the haves and have nots, and the effects of disasters both natural and man-made. The National Cultural Policy presents an opportunity to engage differently in our future, to ensure that culture, as an expression of our societies’ values and beliefs, is invested in to bring about meaningful change in the way we do things.
