Save Super Art — 28.06.2010
The controversial Cooper Review, due for release June 30, will recommend the Federal Government scrap art acquisition from self-managed super funds, categorizing paintings as “collectables and personal use assets”.
Tom Lowenstein, campaign convener of “Save Super Art” and Executive Director of the Australian Artists Association’s claimed the changes would cost Australia’s $1.5 billion visual arts industry about $100 million a year.
Arts Minister Peter Garrett is to meet with arts sector representatives shortly to hear their concerns.
