In the lead to the 2010 federal election, Artspeak, a collection of national arts peak bodies, lobbied for a reduction in the proposed efficiency dividend from 1.25% to 1%, concerned by the capacity of the Australia Council to subsume the cut.
The consequent application has resulted in cut-backs being passed onto grant recipients, with many funded organisations receiving funding installments with annual increases less than CPI.
